    Digital Marketing FAQ's

How much should I be spending on digital marketing?

It all depends on your marketplace, ambitions and whether or not you want to outsource the whole lot or just aspects of your digital marketing approaches. Oaks Digital quote our time by days or half-days for ongoing monthly support. To give you an accurate quote it’s better to get in touch so that we can carry out a thorough fact find beforehand.

How quickly will it take for me to see results?

It depends on what approach you take, what your current digital presence looks like, how competitive your marketplace is, and what the demand is like for your product or service. With PPC you tend to get quicker results, whereas with SEO it’s more of a long-term approach. If you have a mailing list or social media following already established then you can get quick results depending on the nature of your business.

Do you have a minimum term commitment for digital marketing services?

There is an initial 3-month commitment for all our digital marketing services. Following that clients are moved onto a rolling commitment and can cancel at any time with 60-days notice. We find that this approach keeps our team honest and working hard for your business each month, rather than tying you into unnecessary long-term commitments and focusing our attentions elsewhere until your renewal.

Am I better spending money on SEO or PPC?

It depends on your marketplace, your starting point and how quickly you need results. In short, PPC can get you wins quickly whereas SEO can get you wins in the long-term. A blended approach of the 2 can yield better results depending on your budget. To give you a detailed answer it’s better to get in touch so that we can carry out a thorough fact find beforehand.

Am I better advertising with Google or with Facebook/Meta?

Again, it depends on your marketplace and what your goals are. Generally speaking, Google typically has a higher conversion rate because users are in the mindset that they need a specific service or product when they are Googling a search term e.g. “plumber near me”. Whereas Facebook generally has a cheaper cost-per-click which means you can reach more people with your ads. Budget dependant, a combination of the 2 approaches complement each other well for increasing brand awareness and converting sales. To give you a detailed answer it’s better to get in touch so that we can carry out a thorough fact find beforehand.

Can I adjust my budgets when I need to?

Yes! Many online demands are seasonal (e.g. “holidays in the UK” peaks in January when people need to book something to look forward to) so you can ramp up your budgets when you need more sales, and decrease your budgets to suit demand. Oaks Digital can help you plan your budgets for the quarter or even the year ahead.

Are there any set up costs?

For PPC and Social Media advertising we do charge a one-off set up fee. This entails setting up your ad account, billing details, conversion tracking, your ad copy and for PPC it covers your initial keyword research. If we’re inheriting an ad account that you already have set up then we may not need to charge an initial fee, depending on what the current state of the account is and how much work needs doing.

For SEO there is no set up fee, although we do recommend investing in an initially SEO audit so that month 1 of your SEO campaign can be spent on hitting the ground running.

For content creation services for your blog, newsletter or social media account you have the option of paying for a one-off discovery session, or we can use the allocated hours from month 1 to carry out the discovery session (although there will then be less time spent on writing content for that month).

What access do you need from us to get started?

Depending on what digital marketing services you need from us, we will require some if not all of the following details from you:
    – website CMS access
    – website analytics access
    – Google search console (if available)
    – social media account access
    – social media scheduling tool access
    – newsletter access
    – ad account access

We can help you get setup if you don’t have the necessary accounts already set up.

    How will you measure results?

Through goal conversion tracking. Where possible we will set up goal conversion tracking analytics on your website so that we can measure performance and your return on investment.

    Website FAQ's

How much do you charge for a website?

Just like a house, it depends on the complexity of the design and the functionality requirements for your new website. Our starting price for entry level websites is £2,000. Complete our website questionnaire if you’d like us to put a proposal with an accurate quote for you to consider.

How long will it take to build my website?

If we have everything that we need (logo, text, videos, pictures etc) at the beginning of the project then we can often turn around a simple website within 4 weeks of starting the initial design. The more complicated the project the longer it will take to develop.

Are there any ongoing costs after the website goes live?

Yes, you will need to pay for your domain name renewal, as well as ongoing hosting in order to keep your website live. We can help with both these services if your preference is to keep everything with one point of contact. You may wish to consider an ongoing service level agreement if you require ongoing maintenance support with your website or consultancy help so that you have a clear action plan for how to best get results from your new website. Enquire now for more information about our popular SLA support options.

    What is website hosting?

Website hosting is a service that allows individuals and organizations to make their websites accessible via the World Wide Web. Essentially, website hosting involves storing the files and data that make up a website on a server that is connected to the internet.

Can you host our existing website if it was developed by someone else?

If it’s a WordPress website then we can more than likely host your website. It’s best to contact us with your CMS login details so that we’re able to ‘have a look under the bonnet’ before confirming for sure.

What's the benefit of using a digital agency to build me a website versus doing it myself?

A digital agency will know how to design and develop your website with good navigation, content, and interactions considered to maximise your web presence. This will give you the best opportunity to convert web visits into meaningful actions that support your business goals.

Oaks Digital look beyond the design with marketing your new website in mind, so SEO considerations, fast page-speeds, landing pages with the right amount of trust and persuasion, and user-interactions that enhance rather than distract for their experience on your website are all key to developing an effective website for you and your users.

What kind of businesses do you work with?

We typically work with UK based SME’s, start-ups and charities with fewer than 50 staff members. We place a lot of our focus on your end-users, and are therefore able to work with any sector rather than specialise in any one sector in particular.

Will you write the copy for my website?

Not as standard, but we can quote for this as an optional extra in your website proposal if you’re interested in having professional copy written for your new website to save you the time and effort.

Will you take the photos to use on my website?

No, we don’t offer photography services ourselves. But we do have a shortlist of professional photographers that we’d be happy to recommend for your project. If you have someone else in mind then that is fine too. We’re happy to collaborate with anyone if it means that you get a better end-product for your new website.

How will people find my website?

There are multi methods for people to find your website, such as through search engines, online directories, social media posts, email or even direct because they’ve picked up your business card or flyer. If you need help with your digital marketing strategy before investing in a new website then we can help with that too.. just ask!

How can I measure how well my website is performing?

There are numerous analytics packages on the market place for you to measure your website’s performance. We install Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console on any website that we develop as standard. These will allow you to examine how many users are visiting your website, how they are finding your website, and what actions they are carrying out after they’ve landed on your website.

What domain name should I use for my business?

Generally speaking, you should host your website on a .co.uk domain when targeting a UK based audience, or .com for International business. You can buy both versions, and even alternatives and repoint them to your main domain name to allow for misspellings as well as securing it from others. Only use one hyphen if any, as studies show that many users don’t trust websites with more than 1 hyphen in the domain name. Seriously consider any SEO implications if you’re thinking about transferring your existing website over to a new domain name.

Who will own the copyright to my website after you've finished building it?

You will own the copyright to your website once completed and paid for in full. Don’t be caught out by other cheaper solutions who disguise the fact that they actually own your website and later hold you to ransom (believe us, it happens more often than you think).
